New Delhi [India], January 24 (ANI): Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi on Friday extended greetings on the occasion of National Girl Child Day and said that the women of India today are filled with dreams of progress.
“Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar ji had said, “I measure the progress of a society by the progress of women in that society,” Priyanka Gandhi quoted Ambedkar on X.
“The women of India today are filled with dreams of progress and aspirations for the future. They are flying high in every field. Women, a symbol of strength, courage, dedication and patience, are our pride. Let us pledge that we will ensure equality and justice for our daughters and give them their full rights. My love and best wishes to all the daughters of the country on National Girl Child Day.” she added.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reiterated the government’s commitment to keep empowering the girl child and ensure a wide range of opportunities for them.
In a thread post on X, PM Modi expressed pride over the girl child’s accomplishment across all fields.
“Today, on National Girl Child Day, we reiterate our commitment to keep empowering the girl child and ensure a wide range of opportunities for her. India is proud of the accomplishments of the girl child across all fields. Their feats continue to inspire us all,” PM Modi wrote.
“Our Government has focused on sectors like education, technology, skills, healthcare etc which have contributed to empowering the girl child. We are equally resolute in ensuring no discrimination happens against the girl child,” he added.
Lok Sabha LOP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday emphasized the responsibility to prepare girls for a ‘bright and secure future’ on National Girl Child Day.
In a post on X, Rahul said that daughters are the symbol of strength, courage and dedication.
“Daughters are the symbol of strength, courage and dedication; they are full of hopes and aspirations for their better tomorrow,” he said in his post.
“It is our responsibility to prepare a bright and secure future for them, take a pledge to give full rights to half the population,” his post further reads.
National Girl Child Day, celebrated every year on January 24 in India, is a significant occasion dedicated to highlighting the rights, education and welfare of girls. Initiated in 2008, by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the day aims to raise awareness about the importance of empowering girls and creating an environment where they can thrive without the barriers of gender discrimination.
