Sivasagar (Assam) [India], April 13 (ANI): After Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi for offering namaz, party leader Gogoi asked who the Assam CM was to question his “devotion and faith” towards Lord Ram, adding that the BJP neither belongs to any religion nor to any God.
“Who is Himanta Biswa Sarma to question my devotion and faith towards Lord Ram? Our faith in Lord Ram is the right of every Indian citizen. Now, the BJP has come forward to give the certificate. The BJP neither belongs to any religion nor to any god. The party that takes votes in the name of God does not have faith in God,” Gaurav Gogoi told ANI on Saturday.
He further predicted that after the BJP government loses the Lok Sabha elections, the Assam CM will be the first one to leave the party.
“I want to give a prediction that when the BJP government will fall after the Lok Sabha elections, the first one to leave BJP will be Himanta Biswa Sarma,” he added.
Meanwhile, reacting to the Aksai Chin issue, the Congress MP held Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible and said that the BJP should tell us what steps it has taken regarding the China issue.
“Instead of going into history, look at the present. The BJP should tell us what steps it has taken regarding the China issue. Today, the way China is building relations with our neighbouring countries, India is becoming weak in its own region. The Prime Minister is responsible for this. Because for him, foreign policy is only about promoting his image. He has not done the work to increase the security and strength of the country,” he added.
He further extended his greetings to all the people of Assam on the occasion of Bihu.
“Today is the festival of Bihu. On this auspicious occasion, I extend my heartiest greetings to all the people of Assam. People have made up their minds, that we are winning Jorhat,” he said.
Earlier on Friday, the Assam Chief Minister questioned Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi and Akhil Gogoi for offering Eid Namaz.
“We don’t have ‘Hindu-Muslim’ on our minds. Congress has just one caste on its mind. When there is action, there is also a reaction. Yesterday, when Gaurav Gogoi and Akhil Gogoi offered namaz, I thought that it was fine that they offered namaz but why did they not offer prayers to Ram Lalla on the day of the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Temple? Why did they call Lord Krishna ‘Love Jihadi’?” Assam CM said.
Sarma alleged that it is a kind of appeasement politics towards the Muslim society that Gogoi is trying hard.
“We should love both Muslims and Hindus but if they do appeasement politics, there would be a counter-reaction to counter-action,” he added.
Elections for the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam will take place in three phases on April 19, April 26 and May 7.
Notably, the election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases starting April 19. Nearly 97 crore voters are eligible to cast votes in the general election. The counting of the votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
