Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 29 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department successfully captured a leopard on Sunday that had been roaming in Karkheda village, Tanda tehsil, Rampur.
The leopard was caught with the assistance of a team of doctors from Pilibhit, who tranquillised the animal. A medical examination will be conducted, and the Divisional Forest Officer of Rampur has urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic.
Rampur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rajiv Kumar told ANI, “The police department and our team worked hard to capture the leopard, which is now in a cage. The leopard has been tranquillised. There is no need for panic. If there are any other leopards, they will also be caught.”
This incident follows a spate of animal attacks in neighbouring Bahraich, where four people, including three children, were injured in separate encounters.
These include a minor girl and a man who were attacked by a leopard near Katarniaghat, while two other incidents, suspected to be wolf attacks, were reported in the Bahraich forest division.
Katarniaghat Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Shiv Shankar confirmed the leopard attack, stating, “Two people, including a 13-year-old girl, Sahiba from Ayodhya Purwa, and 35-year-old Madhusudan from Harkapur, were injured in the incident.” (ANI)
