New Delhi [India], December 12 (ANI): After the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting of the Congress concluded on Thursday, party leader TS Singhdeo emphasized that the party’s goal isn’t to defeat the ruling party, but rather to perform well and regain the trust of Delhi’s voters.
“We do not have the intention of defeating the ruling party. Congress would want to perform well and the people of Delhi deliberate and give an opportunity to Congress once again. Sheila Dikshit was the CM for 15 years, people of Delhi still remember her tenure. Congress had a deep presence in Delhi, and the party will all make efforts to go back to that situation and try to earn people’s confidence,” Singhdeo told ANI.

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav said that there’s no scope for any kind of alliance for the upcoming Assembly polls in the national capital. “As of today, we don’t see any scope of any kind of alliance,” he said.

Party leader Ambika Soni said, “We are determined to fight.”
Speaking on any poll alliance with AAP, she said, “I do not know about that. You can deduce, with all the things that have been cleared up today.”
After the CEC meeting, Congress released its first list of 21 candidates for Delhi elections.
According to the list, Congress chief Devender Yadav will contest from Badli, Ragini Nayak from Wazirpur, Sandeep Dikshit from New Delhi, and Abhishek Dutt from Kasturba Nagar.
Meanwhile, as part of its election efforts, Congress appointed Priyavrat Singh as the “war room” chairman for the Delhi polls.
Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 successive years, has performed poorly in the past two assembly polls. The party does not have an MLA in the assembly at present.
BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have also started their preparations for Delhi assembly polls.
AAP on Monday released its second list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. The party has dropped 17 sitting MLAs in the second list.
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of an alliance with the Congress.
“Aam Aadmi Party will be fighting this election on its own strength in Delhi. There is no possibility of any alliance with Congress,” he said in a post on X.
Both Congress and AAP are part of the INDIA bloc and had fought together in Delhi in the Lok Sabha polls held earlier this year. (ANI)
