New Delhi [India], October 10 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday paid tribute to renowned industrialist Ratan Tata, saying that the country will always miss him.
Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday night. He was 86.
“Shri Ratan Tata Ji gave new heights to the Indian industry with his tireless hard work and progressive approach. The unprecedented example set by Shri Ratan Tata Ji in the field of public welfare and service to humanity will continue to inspire for centuries. The country will always miss him. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Shri Ratan Tata ji,” Priyanka Gandhi said on Social Media X.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge also condoled the demise of Ratan Tata desciribing him as “the greatest influencers of the century.”
“Ratan Tata was one of the greatest influencers of the century, for a lot of entrepreneurs. His passion for creating new businesses, innovation, and having a sense of humanness in all his ventures, he never chased a place in the top billionaires list. His philanthropy stands as a testimony for others to follow… His demise is not just a great loss for the industry, but also the country,” Priyank Kharge said.
Maharashtra Cabinet-led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday passed a resolution urging the Centre to confer the country’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna to veteran industrialist Ratan Tata who passed away in Mumbai in recognition of his achievements.
Tributes were paid to Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata in the state cabinet meeting held today.
The Cabinet also passed a condolence proposal on Ratan Tata’s demise.
According to an official statement from Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office, the state government has declared one day of mourning in respect of Ratan Tata.
Ratan Tata, born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, was the Chairman of Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of the largest private-sector-promoted philanthropic trusts in India. He was the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. Then he was appointed Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.
He was honoured with the country’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2008. (ANI)
