Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 14 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in ‘Hindi Diwas Samaroh-2024’ organised by Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan in Dehradun on Saturday.
During the event held at IRDT Auditorium, the Chief Minister released the book ‘Uttarakhand Ki Lok Kathayen’ by the Sansthan.
Speaking on occasion, CM Dhami highlighted how Hindi has connected society and enriched the civilisation, adding that it is “not just a celebration of a language but an occasion to pride our culture”. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the people who made important contributions to the upliftment and promotion of Hindi.
“Hindi is not only a language but also the soul of our nation. Hindi has given us a special place on the world stage. It is not only a medium of communication for us but is also a symbol of our identity, culture, and Indianness. Hindi, full of ease, simplicity, and strength, has a wonderful ability to coordinate. The fame of Hindi is not limited to India only, it has become a major bridge of communication in the entire Indian subcontinent,” he said, according to a release.
The Chief Minister highlighted how the language played an important role in bringing awareness to society and that Hindi is being studied in various countries of the world.
“From the freedom struggle till today, Hindi has also been a major medium of social consciousness. During the freedom struggle, Hindi became the language of struggle and played an important role in binding the countrymen together. Today, when India is moving towards becoming the leader of the world, at such a time, the promotion of Hindi has become even more important for us,” he outlined.
“Under the Financial Assistance Scheme for publishing books in various languages, Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan has provided grants to 17 litterateurs, which is also an inspiration for our writers,” he added.
CM Dhami highlighted the Prime Minister’s efforts to establish Hindi on the global platform and said that it is a collective responsibility “to maintain the pride of Hindi.”
“Hindi has got global recognition due to his use of Hindi in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. Many efforts are being made by the state government for the upliftment and promotion of Hindi. It is the collective responsibility of all of us to maintain the pride of Hindi. Today we should take a pledge to respect our mother tongue, Hindi. Adopt it in our daily lives so that Hindi becomes a strong language of the 21st century,” CM Dhami said.
During the event, CM Dhami distributed awards to students who secured the first three positions in poetry writing, story writing, travelogue writing, and playwriting competitions and also honoured the students who scored the highest marks in Hindi in the board examinations. (ANI)
