Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 18 (ANI): Former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday expressed confidence over BJP winning all the 29 parliamentary seats in the state in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
“People want to make PM Narendra Modi, the PM for the third time and Bhopal is also not lagging. The BJP will win all 29 seats including the Chhindwara seat in the state,” Chouhan told ANI during the nomination rally of BJP nominee from Bhopal, Alok Sharma.
After the nomination of the BJP nominee, Chouhan said that the atmosphere is euphoric in favour of PM Modi and the BJP. There is not only loyalty and trust towards PM Modi but now there is also reverence and devotion of the public. Therefore, it is certain that the BJP will win with record votes in every seat in the state.
Meanwhile, Chouhan also slammed the Congress party over raising doubts on Naxal encounters in Chhattisgarh saying due to such a decision the grand old party has gone into the abyss.
“Vinash kaley viparit buddhi (as one’s doom approaches, his intellect works against his interest). Because of such wrong decisions, Congress has gone into the abyss. They (Congress) opposed the abrogation of Article 370, they opposed the removal of Triple Talaq and also opposed Ram Mandir. If action is taken against Naxalites and terrorists they (opposition) glorify them. This is why Congress is going into the abyss. Now they will not be saved,” Chouhan said.
Notably, former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is also the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, raised doubts over the operation claiming that there had been several ‘fake encounters’ under the erstwhile BJP regime, adding that innocent villagers were tagged as Naxals and arrested.
He claimed that the police have been threatening villagers as well, adding that during his tenure as CM, too, several Naxals had been killed or had surrendered.
Echoing the refrain, the Congress’s state chief Deepak Baij said the government should clarify beyond any reasonable doubt that those killed were all Naxals and not villagers too.
Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh will be conducted in four phases. The first phase of polling will be held on April 19, followed by April 26, May 7 and May 13. The votes will be counted on June 4.
Madhya Pradesh has a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, making it the sixth-largest state in terms of parliamentary representation. Out of these, 10 seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates, while the remaining 19 are unreserved.
Nakul Nath, son of former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath is fighting again from the Chhindwara seat against BJP candidate Vivek Bunty Sahu, who had lost to Kamal Nath in the last two assembly polls.
The BJP already showed in the recently conducted assembly polls that it has an upper advantage in the Hindi heartland states. In the 2019 elections, Congress leader Nakul Nath got a total of 47.1 per cent of vote share whereas the defeated BJP candidate touched 44.1 per cent. (ANI)
