Patna (Bihar) [India], June 22 (ANI): RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday attacked the BJP government over the irregularities surrounding the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024 and targeted the Central government saying that wherever BJP is in power, paper leaks happen there.
Speaking with the reporters, Yadav said, “Wherever there is BJP government, paper leaks are happening there…It is my appeal to investigation agencies to probe Sanjeev Mukhiya. I urge the government to probe this. Sanjeev Mukhiya is said to be the head of Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand who have been nabbed (in NEET issue). This should be investigated.”
He added further, “Otherwise, we will have to reveal the pictures of Sanjeev Mukhiya with the politicians that we have with us. So, it is better that the probe agencies probe this impartially. This is not going to be hidden…Those who leaked the paper won’t be spared. Those who cheated will not be spared… We will not leave them.”
Notably, Patna police had arrested several people including some candidates who had taken the NEET exam. Out of them, four have been identified as Anurag Yadav, a NEET candidate, his uncle Sikandar Yadavendu, and two others – Nitish Kumar and Anand.
The RJD leader also targeted the Education Minister and said, “Dharmendra Pradhan is a senior leader of the BJP and a seasoned politician. He was not even accepting that a paper leak has taken place. You are bringing out laws regarding paper leak but there should be a law for those also who didn’t accept the incident of paper leak…”
Yadav was referring to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 which aims to prevent unfair means in public examinations and common entrance tests held across the country which came into effect on Friday.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing criticism over alleged irregularities in this year’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) exams and NET exam. This resulted in several protests across the country with protestors and political parties demanding to disband the NTA.
An unprecedented 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720 marks out of 720, which added to the concerns.
The Education Ministry, meanwhile, has formed a seven-member committee to reform the examination process and the functioning of the NTA. (ANI)
