Pune (Maharashtra) [India], August 22 (ANI): A Pune court on Thursday rejected the bail applications of six accused in connection with alleged involvement in blood sample manipulation in the Pune Porsche car crash case.
These accused were arrested by the Pune Crime Branch in connection with the blood swapping of a minor accused.
Special Public Prosecutor, Advocate Shishir Hiray said that the bail application of 6 accused persons who are behind bar in the Porsche case is rejected.
“Bail application of 6 accused persons who are behind bar in Porsche case is rejected. We have put the case before the court on the basis of the prima facie evidence available with us and collected by the prosecution agency…Chargesheet is already filed. Besides that, we have put up one more point before the court that an accident is one thing, but whatever happened thereafter in a sequence of that accident whereby fraud was played, a blood sample was changed, false blood reports were tried to be obtained and the sole purpose behind obtaining those false blood reports is to see that accused will be exonerated or whoever is responsible for that particular offence is not punished,” Hiray told ANI.
“We have put forth the case before the court that this is what is trying to shake the foundation of the judicial system of the country and that should be taken into consideration very seriously,” he added.
Earlier in July, a case was registered by the Pune crime branch unit after the accident against the parents of the accused minor and doctors of Sassoon Hospital, including two others. They were booked for allegedly conspiring to tamper with evidence and manipulating the blood sample.
The case pertains to the May 19 incident. A Porsche car, allegedly driven by a minor in an inebriated condition, hit two IT professionals, killing them in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune.
There was a nationwide uproar after the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) granted bail to the accused on very lenient terms, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety.
The uproar caused the Women and Child Development Department to form a panel to investigate the conduct of JJB members in giving bail to minors.
As part of his bail conditions, the minor was required to submit an essay on road safety, highlighting the importance of responsible driving and the consequences of reckless behaviour.
The minor ploughed his swanky Porsche into the two IT professionals, who were travelling on a bike, killing them on the spot on the night of May 19.
The Pune police have filed a 900-page chargesheet against the seven accused, including the parents of the juvenile involved in the accident.
The case against the main accused, a minor, is ongoing before the Juvenile Justice Board. A case was registered by the Pune crime branch unit after the accident against the parents of the accused minor and doctors of Sassoon Hospital, including two others. They were booked for allegedly conspiring to tamper with evidence and manipulating the blood sample. (ANI)
