Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 20 (ANI): Doctors of Hyderabad held a candle march and ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street play) on Tuesday against the alleged rape and murder incident that took place at RG Kar Medical College and hospital in Kolkata.
Speaking to ANI, a protestor said that even though the CBI is investigating the case, there has been a lot of resistance from the state government but the doctors are hopeful that the CBI will do justice for the doctors.
“The CBI has taken up the case but there has been resistance from the state government. We are hopeful that the CBI will do justice for the doctors,” she said.
Further, she said that the doctors have been aware that the Supreme Court constituted a National Task Force for the medical faculty and are hopeful that strict action will be taken soon.
“We saw the recordings of the decision taken by the Supreme Court to constitute a National Task Force for the medical faculty and we are hopeful and pray that strict action would be taken soon. The Supreme Court has also taken the suo-moto cognizance and are looking towards better decisions,” she added.
Earlier today, several doctors in Shimla marched towards the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat on Tuesday, demanding justice for the rape and murder of the female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
The doctors also demanded enhanced safety and security for the medical personnel in Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking to ANI, Dr Abhishek Sharma said that the main demand of the doctors is to seek justice for the rape victim and he further added that the government had tried to shield the accused and impose a form of dictatorship.
“Our main demand is to seek justice for the West Bengal rape victim. The incident has shocked the nation. We believe the government tried to shield the accused and imposed a form of dictatorship,” he said. (ANI)
